At Katana, our purpose is to help create meaningful and enduring change in Africa through investments in disruptive ideas and the spirited problem solvers who embody the philosophy of afrocapitalism.
Afrocapitalism seeks to cure the most pressing challenges facing the African continent through investments that not only create social wealth within the community but also promote the economic prosperity of both the venture startups and the customers they serve.
Our work builds on the economic philosophy developed by Tony Elumelu and is predicated on the belief that Africa’s private sector can and must play a leading role in the continent’s development. By increasing social wealth and promoting development in the communities where we operate, our work will ultimately help Katana-backed ventures become more profitable as the communities around them grow in tandem.
